I have a 1998 Honda Valkyrie I mounted the amp under the seat on top of the battery cover. I routed the speaker wire under the gas tank and up to the speakers on the bars &  then I routed the input wires through the tank bib pocket, under the bib and down under the seat to the amp...I use a $25 MP3/FM tuner I picked up at Radio Shack, clipped to the pocket, (see photo), it's easy to use the controls and it tucks away when I walk away from the bike. It's clean and sounds great!
